ULTRA SHINY POKEMON! Stars and Squares Difference! Pokemon Sword and Shield Shiny Pokemon!

Lmao, I never heard of an ultra shiny before until a few days ago.
I remembered that during my playthrough of Shield, I encountered a random shiny thievul. I thought that it was cool and thought nothing highly of it. It was just a random shiny in my eyes.
Lately, I remembered this glitch in pokemon red where u can bring the shiny gyarados into the game. If you fight ditto and it transforms, you can catch it and it becomes shiny ditto. I thought it would work on SwSh, but it didnt. The thing is, I found my shiny thievul have stars, then squares or something like shards, and then a light. I remembered that this was an ultra shiny.
I freaked out so much lol

Just to clarify the second part of the tweet chain. From Serebii: “With breeding Pokémon, static encounters and Max Raid Battles, when you encounter a Shiny Pokémon it will have a 15/16 chance of being a Pokémon with the Stars sparkle and a 1/16 chance of having the Squares sparkle. However, due to a programming quirk, at time of writing when you encounter a shiny Pokémon as a standard wild encounter, this is inverted with a 15/16 chance of the Pokémon having the Squares sparkle and a 1/16 chance of it having the stars one”

I have been wondering about this since release day, I was walking in route 2 I think it was and stumbled upon a random encounter shiny Nickit with SQUARE sparkles, I found it a bit weird but haven’t found another shiny to compare it too yet! Full odds ultra shiny within a hour of starting the game.. not bad 😂

I dont think those odds are correct. Every shiny reaction i’ve seen on youtube has been mostly shiny. I think the odds are better if it’s wild, and then if you do masuda method or get it from dynamax, its more likely to be stars. That’s just from what i’ve seen, and I think it’s to make up for the crazy odds of masuda method and to reward players that grind.

Shoutout to the BugLocke. I was watching episode 9 and currently I’m on my first play through of Shield. While I was watching I was trying to find an Arrokuda in Hulbury. I WAS NOT shiny hunting. I ran into a shiny Chinchou out of the blue. Convinced it happened because I was watching the Shiny King

I’ve found a shiny grubbin, though I will admit I did even notice the squares at the end. The funny thing is that I was watching your stream for shiny rookidee, I literally ran into maybe maybe 15 pokemon and ran away. I think I ran into a regular grubbing then the shiny one in which I just stared at the screen thinking “I couldn’t of just found a shiny that quickly in the game I wasn’t even trying to shiny hunt”. I caught it and its now a vikabolt on my team named Exa.

Wouldn’t say two different kinds of shinies. It’s just the animation so two different shiny animations or sparkle animations. Some of us are picky with words 😅

Well crap, I just caught a shiny Magikarp and evolved it and showed it to my friends told me it was a ultra shiny, told me I was stupid lucky for catching it, great way to starting the new year

Holy Crap!! A few days ago after I beat the Circhester gym I caught my first shiny in sword and it was a Gastrodon, Didnt think much of it and put in the box, and idk what made me decide to check just now but turns out its a Square Shiny Gastrodon!!!

So, in other words and to put it in Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG terms, a shiny with stars is a Secret Rare and a shiny with squares is a Prismatic Secret Rare? Nice. I like it.

Man, I kinda wish it stayed as 1/16 all round for squares. The first Eletrike I ran into was a square shiny! Still cool to know the odds of getting him are so crazy.

I got a “square” shiny Toxapex from a 4 star raid yesterday. It’s my first shiny in the game btw. It’s crazy, I did not chain it was the first Toxapex I ever encountered. Wicked lucky

I was hunting for a shiny litwick (still am) and I accidently stumbled upon an ultra shiny rhyhorn. I had no chain whatsoever for rhyhorn, but I got one. At the time I had only fainted 3 rhyhorns in total so my odds weren’t high at all. I had mixed feelings about finding it, but “no shiny left behind” GG Rhyhorn
